To the person who said that Toronto is one of the worst ghettos have you been to Toronto, have you had your eyes checked because no where in Toronto is as remotely ghetto as some of these places in the US. The "ghettos" in Toronto are:

Jane and Finch
Regent Park
Lawrence Heights

That's all I can think of but they make those ghettos in Cleveland look like a really nice area.

I was born and raised in Cleveland and sure East Cleveland is pretty bad, but other than that everything on the west side is not to bad. I grew up off of 150th and over the years its gone down hill a little bit but nothing major. O and anyone who says downtown is ghetto is most likely a yuppie from the burbs. Downtown Cleveland is awesome compared to Columbus and Cinncy.

Born here, on E.99. Grew up on da 10-5. Was real rough growing up. Good thing my parents loved me. They Had me on a strict curfew, and they wouldn't allow me to go past tower city, towards the west side. When we moved to ATL a couple years ago, I was sad cuz I was leaving the place I grew up. But when I realized that the place that I had grown to love was an ugly horrible dream eating place it made me realize that anywhere could be made to seem beautiful. even a ghetto.

Lets be real, they live there cause they want to, easy to do srime and live the "lifestyle" if you feel sorry for them go ride with te police department and then see how bad you feel for them. You know, Cleve is where it's at. I find tragic beauty in the ghetto, I really do. These people that everyone is afraid of are just real people trying to survive the best they can with the tools given to them, either by parents, mentors, gang members. They're surviving any way they can, con, wits, street smarts, book smarts, they're are beautiful in their own right, I did them. Spoken by a whitey in Seattle.

I'm a trucker, used to work near East 79th & Kinsman 20 years ago for a few years. North and west of there up to East 40th and Cedar definitely wasn't too choice an area back then but I used to drive that area five days a week and never had any problems. Lots of abandoned industrial property around there. Try East 65th and Central!!! In 1987-88 I used to live in Tremont too.

While Cleveland's east-side inner city is old and there are lots of abandoned buildings, it isn't nearly as rough as the South Bronx anywhere near Hunt's Point Market or South Philly near the Food Terminal. Detroit is one huge ghetto. Check-out the Eastern Market area sometime or up around Davison. I used to haul meat there every week and even used to work for a truckline in the Eastern Market in 1982. Or try Chicago's south side or even the near northwest side around Cabrini Green. I used to work in the Chicago Stockyards area in the early 1980s too, and have 10 years every week recent experience there also.

Want to see some other good ghettos try Buffalo or Pittsburgh. Even Wierton, WV doesn't look too good going by from the freeway. And the next time that you are in El Paso, just look over at the other side of the Rio Grande River at Juarez!!! Now there's a tough-looking ghetto if I have ever seen one.

Cleveland is one of the worst cities in the country. It is truly a ghetto. I can't even go to my appt's at the Cleveland Clinic without fearing for my life. The whole downtown area is unsafe and there are at least 5 murders a week- all innocent people going about their daily lives, shot down by 11-14yr old thugs.

Part of the problem is that the rich do not want the poor getting rich. When you are rich you have more power. The problem could be solved tomorrow but it will never happen.

It is the same way with stocks. If you already have the money you can buy the expensive stocks and get richer.

People around the world should understand this. The rich want to keep that power. The slums will never go away here.

Hey. I really like your blog! But I just wanted to say that I honestly think ghettos have a beauty. I live in south phoenix, which is considered one of the bad areas, but I love it here. Sure, it can be beyond frightening sometimes, but then again, I've lived here practically my whole life, and I think that it will always be a huge part of me. Haha, I just wanted to say that...but you should try and put some pictures up of ghetto phoenix!
