Compton is the worst city in the U.S. isn't it?
naaa, it depends what you mean by worst. Most murders? Most unemployment? Most hate crimes? Most crime in general and gang violence? Most drugs? There are a lot, I was even watching a show about how bad Little Rock arkansas is. Compton is not even a city, it is in Area in Southern Las Angeles.

West Coast is definetley worse than the East Coast with gang violence. Compton is the worst, along with LA, South Central, Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, Stockton, Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Bremerton. COMPTON is the worst by far.

What are the most dangerous cities in the US? CQ Press released the list of the most dangerous cities in their 2009-2010 City Crime Rankings. Camden, New Jersey is ranked number one this year, followed by St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA; Detroit, MI.

The City of Compton, is a city not a part of the city of Compton. I have friends that they say the went to Compton, and when I asked them what part, the say in Compton Ave and Florence or in Crenshaw, which it is not near from the city of Compton. Second there are really nice areas in Compton too. Watts is an area of LA City and it is far more neglected than the city of Compton.

That's the thing about California - well the west coast for that matter. The ghettos look like paradise compared to the hoods from other parts of the country. That juxtaposition is the beauty of it.

The reason why Dr.Dre mention Compton is crazy because it was all bad in the 80's, 90's, even early 2000's, plus if you ever listen to the Bloods and Crips Bangin on Wax they were real gangsters from the 90's and they came up, but mostly all of em are dead, because Compton, Watts, SC LA was active then a mutha!!!! I've lived in Compton for the last 3 years, and I'm totally white, neighbors are black and hispanic... the Asian guy moved...
There are some areas you just don't go at night... there are others where it's just a neighborhood, if a little less affluent than neighboring cities.
We don't have a police force (they were gonna get the mayor on corruption charges, so he totally got rid of it), and have to rely on the LA County sheriffs. They've responded well for the few noise complaints I called in, and apparently were quick on the scene when the parolee son of the guys across the street had his gang thug friends over, and one decided to totally shiv his own cousin on the sidewalk in front of our neighbor's house. The street's been a lot better off since they all went back to jail.
As for bars on all the windows, that's a pretty common feature in Hispanic-heavy neighborhoods... Not sure if it's due to crime, or just 'cause they like all that wrought iron. All the yards get fenced with a lot more wrought iron, but that's also partly 'cause all the yards have dogs in 'em.
It's totally worth being aware that violent crime is down to just a third of what it was only a decade ago, and even property crime is down even more in just the last five years. As the economy improves, hopefully this whole trend of reduced crime will keep on going.

I'm a 38 year old white male I was once a drifter.I know alot of people from around the country.I've been all over the east coast.I haven't been on the west coast yet out of all the big cities I've been to and lived in Liberty city Miami is the worst I lived there for 1 year because I dated a girl there Detroit,Chicago,Gary In,Baltimore every place has bad areas if you are in the drug game then you get what you get Orlando is bad if your looking for drugs lived 45 min from there in Melbourne FL all murders happen mostly in the drug gang areas
