Where have you been with a camera?

Where have you been with a camera? It seems as though everyone now a days is doing stupid shit with their cameras. However, what risks are you willing to take to get that 10 second clip and/or that 640 x 480 shot? How far are you willing to go? Some people get paid to fly over seas to war zone's and risk their lives to put themselves on the line. How far are you willing to go in your every day life, living in America?

  1. There is not much indication that these places are actually dangerous. Poor and inhabited by Black people, yes, but except to those blinded by racism and classism that in itself is not dangerous.

the bronx in the 1980s was the definition of urban blight, but it was readily possible to live, eat, and take pictures without being ambushed or murdered. it wasn't that "dangerous" and for as much as we are drowning in pictures today there are certainly thousands upon thousands of pictures from these and other such areas from that time. if they are not on the Internet that doesn't mean they do not exist.

most of these pictures look to have been taken from buses, cars, taxis or other safe drive-by positions.

i can not speak for the 1980s but in more recent times i have walked and driven though areas like those pictured here. times have changed, to be sure, but i feel more conspicuous driving into small towns in rural Appalachia or stumbling into truck stops in eastern Colorado. that's where i really feel like i might get my ass kicked.

  7. Now THAT is a true ghetto. Argentina. That's the real deal. When you don't even have a toilet and a simple rainshower can destroy your home. We are a privilleged people here in America. I'm very interested in photographing the ghettos around America. Does anyone know of any more pictures like these? Any books I can refer to???

you obviously haven't been to L.A. dont judge it on a few pics. try walking down the street at night in south central or east la taking a picture then tell us. you probably wont get those developed.

Good stuff on these pics maybe though you could do world ghettos and then tell me if america is still ghetto or more like it has some disavantage parts

try distinguishing a "slum" from a "ghetto". a ghetto is an area where people of similar race/creed/sexuality/etc.. are forced to live due to outside forces (income/lifestyle). most university towns have a "student ghetto". many big cities have a "gay ghetto". doesn't always mean poor or rundown.

    a slum is just a sh*thole. period.

Between seattle and tacoma (SeaTac) Hilltop (tacoma) and southend/dale park (seattle) should be on there but tacoma got hella gangs from south central LA because the police up here couldnt handle them at first now the whole city is a slum

  12. n many ways, Hereditary is the horror movie I've been restlessly waiting to see for so many years. megashare9 Despite my avid fandom for the genre, I really feel that modern horror has lost its grasp on how to make a film that's truly unsettling in the way the great classic horror films are. losmovies A modern wide-release horror film is often nothing more than a conveyor belt of jump scares strung together with a derivative story which exists purely as a vehicle to deliver those jump scares. 123 movies They're more carnival rides than they are films, and audiences have been conditioned to view and judge them through that lens. zmovie
